Equity Is Not Equality uses the visual language of kitsch and erotica to poke fun at one of today’s most moralised social concepts. Two seemingly identical nipple pasties are preserved in a clear resin block, illuminated like museum specimens. At first sight, they form a playful, decorative pair—until the viewer notices that one tassel hangs slightly lower than the other.

This subtle imbalance mimics the familiar infographic used in social justice debates, where children of different heights stand on boxes to illustrate the difference between equality and equity. By replacing the didactic cartoon with erotic, low-culture objects, the work exposes how serious political ideas are often reduced to simplified, almost cartoonish imagery.

The polished display—frozen in resin, clinically lit—parodies the authoritative tone with which such concepts are presented in public discourse. Equity Is Not Equality questions whether our moral frameworks are genuinely understood, or merely consumed as ready-made, feel-good narratives. Through irony, it invites viewers to reflect on how ideology, activism, and aesthetics intertwine within contemporary culture.
